For more than 20 years I have been captivated by nature and wildlife. Over the years I joined many groups supporting and defending the environment including the Nature Conservancy, the Sierra Club, and the Environmental Defense League to name a few.

In 2007, I became interested in the reports of the International Panel for Climate Change (IPCC). After reading their material I began to consider and research what was being done in the way of adaptation for homeowners, business people, and communities in their quest to protect their homes and businesses from the ravages of a changing climate. Could more be done to help prevent the damage to property and structures, I wondered?

As my curiosity increased, I began a search to uncover what technologies were presently available to people. I discovered that around the world there were many companies already in existence. As the changing climate brought stronger storms, flash flooding, severe drought, and wildfires, these companies offered a variety of products and systems to assist homeowners and communities in their quest for property protection.

Eventually my research took on a life of its own. This website is the result of my search and my hope is that it will serve as a repository of information for those individuals, companies, and communities searching for technological solutions to flooding, wildfires, and wind related storms. This website includes permanent and temporary technological adaptation products and systems that are available today. (It does not include agricultural adaptation; work being done by the Red Cross and others in Africa and Asia. It does not include restoration of the natural landscape; work being done by the Nature Conservancy, the Army Corp of Engineers, and others around the world.)

I am delighted to announce that Josh Rosen has joined the website as Science Editor. With a Bachelor of Science Degree in geology, Josh has 26 years of consulting experience in environmental and engineering geology, contaminated soil and groundwater monitoring, and water resources. In addition to operating his own consulting business, Josh was also a partner in another consulting firm. Presently he is employed as a Senior Hydrogeologist for a privately owned company in Lakewood, Colorado. He has participated in projects for private sector, public sector, regulatory, and federal agency clients. In addition to his project responsibilities, Josh edits technical documents for multidisciplinary projects (e.g., chemistry, hydrology, biology, engineering, geology) at his current position and many of his past positions.
